What are the pros & cons to having my Beagle puppy spayed?

I have a 3 month old Beagle puppy and I'm not sure if I should have her spayed when that time comes. What are the pros & cons to having this done (Besides the obvious)?

Pros: You will not be driven crazy or have a mess to deal with when she is in heat. You will not have stray dogs beating a path to your door and pissing all over you and your property. Your dog will live longer and be healthier and less likely to develop urinary/cystitis problems, female problems, or a multitude of other health issues. She will not have false pregnancies. She will have cleaner toilet habits. She will be easier to train. She will be more loyal and protective. You won't have to pay an extra fee every year (its an additional $100 for unneutered pets unless they are registered breeders) you get her license

Cons: None

    There are no cons!

    Always spay your animals.

Spayed animals have a decreased chance of uterine cancer, they don't go into heat, they don't have periods, they don't add to the out of control domestic animal population, they tend to live longer.

A LOT less likely to have cancer, eliminates the bleeding all over your house when in season, no unwanted puppies, no worries about your dog dying during the birthing process, no worries about deformed/sick puppies….overall makes your pet healthier and have a longer life. I don't have any cons to spaying or neutering….

There are no cons. Only legitimate breeders should own intact dogs, and the definition of 'Legitimate' is a great deal more involved than, "I think puppies are cute."

aside from not adding to the unwanted pet population –

    for the dog:
-significantly decreased risk of developing mammary tumors
-less chance of getting ovarian cancer (no chance most of the time)
-almost no chance of getting pyometra or other uterine diseases and cancer

    for you:
-no hassle of having to deal with a bleeding dog twice a year
-no hassle of trying to deal with a dog that wants to get outside to find a mate twice a year
-no hassle of having a pregnant bitch or a litter of puppies to deal with

I hope that helps and I hope you decide to get her spayed :)

pros would be BASICALLY, rounding it all up – probably wont be so aggresive and will be more tame, cus there is no thought of mating.

cons- opposite? might run to other bitches and have the urge to…

please do spay your dog, any responsible owner would know spaying is the way to go.

This really comes down to your views on how many dogs are out there in the world. There are a crapload of dogs out there in the world who dont have a home and are euthanized each year because they cant find a home. So from that point alone shows a great reason as to why you'd want to. However if you look at it from a personal point of view, any time a dog is given anaesthesia, there is a chance that it will die. I myself sadly lost a puppy due to complications with anaesthetic which caused him to go into cardiac arrest and suffered brain damage, so we had to put him to sleep. So it honestly comes down to your views mate. I myself only purchase male dogs, and I dont fix my dogs simply because I am scared to death that I'll get the same phone call I did last time that my dog is going to have to be put to sleep due to problems with the anaesthesia.

    come on.
u have got to care about this.
have u ever seen doctor death on youtube or myspace??
if not, i suggest u watch it- THE WHOLE THING
so u know what these babies go thru!!

if u dont get her spayed, theres a 60% chance that she will get pregnant and about 50% of the pups will be euthanized at one point or another. this ALWAYS happens.

The one con is she has to be put under, which some people don't like.

The pro list can go on forever:
Your adding months/years to her life expectancy, decrease the chance of cancer, prevent any un wanted dogs, no mess to clean up when shes in heat, etc etc etc
