Oscar Another Noahs arc rescue dog

Oscar was found cooling himself in the shade of a tollbooth on the AP7 motorway in Southern Spain. A call from them resulted in our rescue. He has been living rough for a while and has a few old scars towards his back end; these give this gentle boy some character. His coat generally now is glossy, and he will look handsome again very soon.

He is around 5 years old, and during the time on his own, has lost a couple of claws, including one dewclaw. He loves to snuggle up close to you on the settee for you to stoke his neck.

Oscar is best described as loyal, and friendly. He absolutely loves to be with you. We believe that he may have loved his previous owner, but judging by the marks on him it may be possible he was abused, however the way he is with all the people we meet both in and out of the house on our walks would suggest that he does not have any problem with men or woman or other dogs.

Extremely sociable and remains quiet and submissive with all new dogs he meets, this means that all new dogs he meets he gets on with very well.
Indeed within ten minutes of meeting our three he was getting along fine with all of them.

He has been with us now for about a month. During this time not once has he had an accident in the house! He was reluctant to come inside at first, clearly believing that the inside was only for the pack leader not the follower!

Loves to have a bath and enjoys being clean, and groomed. After a while he ventured inside the house, and has been a joy to have in the house.

He character is without flaw, he never asks for anything except a touch of you hand as he wags his tail when you rise in the morning.

He is fine in the car never sick, and travels quietly in the back, at the vet he behaves perfectly and routine checks are fine, although he did complain the evening he was castrated!

He sits perfectly for his food, and like all our foster dogs he knows that good things happen only when he is calm ands submissive. He never disturbs you when you are eating.

He walks perfectly on the lead, and when off the lead will walk perfectly by your side (in the countryside) he will always know where you are, he will be watching you closely he does not want to lose a master who treats him well.

He adores us, and we adore him, but we must let him go so we can continue with our Galgo rescues.. Please treat this boy well; he will be the best friend you ever had.

Never mind Sanne, I will keep trying, the sad thing is, when someone does come forward to help us, they will realise it was probably one of the best decisions they have ever made in their lives, and they will be enriched as a human being as a result. And wished (as we did) that we had got involved years earlier!
    Love Andy xx

Hi Sanne, thanks to you we can carry on. When the public understand how misunderstood the Greyhound (Galgo) is, they start to get the support they need here in Spain. People do not realise how gentle, quiet and placid these dogs are. I have been appealing to our British community here for an additional foster carer, and after two weeks, I have not had one reply. Surely someone will come forward. The Galgo was not voted “Worst guard dog on the planet” for nothing!
    Love Andy
    xx
