Reputable Breeders Do Not Breed Pocket Beagles

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

The pocket beagle is as popular today as it was in the 1300′s among the British monarchy. So if it was declared extinct in 1901 how is it still being breed today? Many breeders of pocket beagles are selling unhealthy dogs. It is up to you to ask questions of your dog breeder. Even though pocket beagles were declared extinct in 1901 it is possible that healthy pocket beagles are being bred today. The debate will rage on for some time.

History of Beagle Mixed Breeds

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

The history of the breed of dog called the beagle is largely unknown. Some say the breed dates back to 200 A.D. The breed began to be referred to as “Beagle” in the 1800s. A beagle mix will have variations of the characteristics of both its parents. Purebred beagles are consistent in temperament, body dimensions, and known characteristics of this specific breed. In crossbreeding, the most popular breeds to cross are pugs and poodles. They are also the most common type of beagle mix.

What dog is better- a beagle or a bichon frise?

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

My family is going to get a dog, so we are deciding between a bichon or a beagle. Which one is better for a family of four?

Here is some good research on both breeds. Read about them, write down all the pros and cons that you may have about each breed as you read about them, compare how many pros and cons that you've written about them, and pick the one that has more pros than cons. :0)

Beagles Eager to Learn New Behaviors

Friday, December 19th, 2008

With their willingness to learn and their eagerness to please, their temperaments make them ideal pets for children and adults. Their lack of aggression makes them well suited to life on the farm or in apartments where small, quiet animals are more welcome than larger animals. It will also develop a loyalty to their owner, other members of its immediate human family and other pets in the household. The nature of the breed is to make friends with their owner as well as other humans and animals living in the same environment.

Alas, a blog » Blog Archive » I recorded a Peter Beagle short

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Head over to Podcastle to hear me read “Gordon, the Self-Made Cat,” by Peter S. Beagle. I was a huge Beagle fan as a kid, so being able to record this was a major “squeeeee!” moment for me. | This entry was posted by Ampersand and is

Can you put a beagle outside in a fence during the day?

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

We are wanting to add a fence to our yard to allow our beagle some play time while we are at work! Is this a wise choice.

Several years ago we had a beagle. Our yard was fenced in with a chain link fence. We thought he was totally safe. He climbed the fence and got hit by a car. I would not ever leave a dog outside unattended. Too many things can happen to them. They can get out, bad weather comes in, they can get hurt. Beagles are notorious for being escape artists. So leaving him outside all day would not get my vote. Just to let you know my experience, I would hate for it to happen to you.
