Pocket Beagle

New girl puppy with a 2 year old boy dog…?

Monday, October 20th, 2008

So far it seems as if my 2 year old Rat Terrier and my new 3 month old pocket beagle get along. They play and for the most part there are no major issues. I have just noticed that my boy dog likes to like my girl dogs parts… she doesn’t act like she cares, but it kinda bothers me. Is this something that I should try to stop or is it acceptable? Also does anyone have any tips on how to train my new puppy without my older dog getting worried that I am telling him NO? Thanks for any advice!!!!!

This is normal. Make sure they are both fixed (spayed and neutered) when the puppy is old enough.

Sweet Baby Kitten – Rescued Kitten

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I had visited a home in upstate NY, country like area surrounded by woods. There are some stray cats & 3 kittens at the house I was staying at. They were all so hungry. What can I do for them? well I did fed them.. and I tried to “rescue” as many as I could.. but I only was able to get one of them. So She is home with me now. I will care for her (already been to the vets) get her used to being handled and then try to find her a loving home. She is currantly (as of 9/8/08) being treated for upper respitory infection & slight pink eye. Which should clear up in no time and I will wait for her to be healthy before letting her be adopted out. She is also dewormed. Most kittens get parasites/worms that are easlily treated. Each day she is becoming sweeter & more loving. Purrs everytime I take her out (she is isolated from my other pets) She weighs about 2-3 lbs as of 9/8/08. She is about 12 weeks old. Calico Female. She is learning to play with me & trust me. Right now she maybe to shy for children. As I don’t think before me, she was ever handled by people. But with time she can adjust. I plan on exposing her to as many things as possible.. but starting with small steps. Remember this is a kitten that has never been in the house. though she automactically took to the litter box. So she is good to go on that. I don’t think she is old enough to get shots yet. But I will check on that, and get the shots if she is old enough. I would also like to get her tested for FIV & other cat realted dieases. But for now I am paying for her care out of pocket, so some things have to wait till I have the money for it. But she is such a sweet little girl and I think doing amazingly well and adjusting so great.. especailly for a kitten that was completely ourdoors never being handled. Oh also I will slowly expose her to my 2 dogs to help get use dogs. Though I have a Beagle & Chihuahua who are naturally calm & friendly with other animals. Please help her find a loving home. Responsible serious loving people only please (located in Long Island)

I first saw the kittens on 9/7/08. cute.. Living outdoors in the woods. but these kitty’s deserve better then to live a “Stray” cat life. Stray cats live with constant sickness (parasites & upper respitory) chased & maybe killed by loose dogs or other wild animals. Being hated by some people who will throw things at them or others do worse things to harm them. Plus living ourdoors in possible harsh elements (Pouring Rains, COLD winters & HOT summers. At least I saved one.

Miniature/Pocket Beagles?

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Hi, would anybody know where i could buy a minature beagle (or pocket beagle as they are sometimes known) anywhere in ireland please?? thanks very much
Ok Ok!! i REALLY didnt know that a miniature/pocket beagle didnt exist, if i did i obviously wouldnt have asked the question. i am just looking for a small dog for my daughter. thank you to the people who didnt answer sarcasticly by the way!

The minature or pocket Beagles died out in the UK in the early part of the 20th century. I currently have a Beagles that is smaller than the standard but not to the extent of a minature/pocket Beagle. I suppose it is a genetic throwback. Even though they were called minature Beagles they were not all that small.

If you are looking for a dog for your daughter contact some of the reputable breeders in Ireland and you may be able to get one which is on the small side.

Just to clarify to be able to show a Beagle in the UK it must be between 13-15 ins. In the USA they have two sizes for breed standard.

You do get pups that are over 15ins or under 13ins. These are still pedigree Beagles it just means they cannot be shown, it doesn't mean they are not Beagles. The small one I have I can trace it's pedigree back to 1946.
