Hi, I was out shopping the other day, when I noticed just how many shoppers were purchasing dog food from the supermarket shelves!
Is this the best way to make sure your dog is well looked after, diet and nutrition wise? I don’t think so. I just think we as a society are becoming a little too pressed for time and are giving into supermarket giants and any dog foods to feed our beloved family pets- if we happen to be supermarket shopping, then why not purchase the dog foods available in the same isles we do our family shopping?
I don’t think there are many dog foods available on the supermarket shelves that can claim to be natural and well balanced. This is why I try to provide my dogs (and I have had a few dogs over the years) with my own recipes, sometimes even using raw foods.
This is just something for you to think about before purchasing pre-packaged supermarket dog foods. Did you know that many world famous Doctors of Veterinary Medicine and many Published Dog Care Experts universally agree that any dog that eats commercial dog food as a ‘normal diet’, is at a much higher risk of dying prematurely. And by the time any symptoms are noticeable it is often too late to prevent an agonizing early and sometimes even slow death.
This is just something for you to ponder next time you are thinking about purchasing supermarket processed dog food. Any way I hope I have not depressed you too much speaking about dogs and death, but at least you know the eventual outcome can be reversed by simply watching what you feed your dog.

Do you mean to tell me that the Purina meal I feed my dog is UNHEALTHY? I beg to differ and think you cause a great disservice by saying so! Stop trying to sell things and let's have the information please.
I understand that all natural food is best and that cooking the dog food is even better. But is there any commercial dog food that I can buy for my beagle? He's 6 mos old and lately he's been having this dry cough and spitting up clear liquids. His nurse said that he may have a sensitive stomach. So we are trying to give him Nutro. But he's not liking it. Before that he was on Purina Pro Selects. This is the 3rd time I'm changing his food. He vet suggest Science Diet at first be it made him stay in the vet office nearly everyday. So we started him back on what his breeder had him on and that's Purina. So what I want to know is, what commercial food from Petco can I give my beagle without him getting sick.
I have to jump to Michelle's defense here, and say have you read the ingredients of Purina??? Do you KNOW what 'meat by-products' are?! Do an internet search on 'meat by-products' and also 'cereal' products and you will find your answer. You may be surprised at your findings!
My beagle was really poorly as a puppy and I have tried most of the foods out there over the 4 years we have had him. The food that does not upset him is Pets at homes own natural food and the difference in him since we started using it is amazing.
