Is it possible to get dwarf/midget dogs?

i have a 7 month old "pure bred" beagle puppy and she is alot smaller than she is meant to be, approx slightly more then half the size of our last pure bred beagle's (we have had 3 beagles previously so we know how big there meant to get).

So i was just wondering is it possible to get dwarf/midget/ what ever you prefer to call them, dogs? And i am not talking about miniature dog that are bred like that.
She is not the runt, we had a choice of her and the runt and we chose her coz she was running around and more active than the runt and thats what we wanted.

shes been to the vet and got her shorts and is desexed and i don't think the vet has really mentioned anything that could be rong with her, she runs and plays all the time and we feed her our own made dinners of roo mince and lentils, chick peas, soup beans and fish oil so there healthy.

Could be a health problem with the dog. Like a bad pancreas or a problem with it's pituitary gland.

I would get it checked out.

Runts are naturally small, although they make up for it in personality. Perhaps she was the runt of her litter? Some puppies just happen to be small. My aunt's pomeranian is really tiny, enough so that you'd think she was still a puppy but she's at least three years old.

Would it not have something to do with the enclosure that the dog is kept in, we have a minature Chihuahua, strange thing, he is a pure breed but his parents are much larger then he is, at one year old he still fits on my hand. My mom kept him in-doors (much to my disgust), for a few months, only going outside to wee etc… Since she has been away in Canada I have left him outside with the other dogs and he seems to have grown, strange I know but very true….

maybe she just has a gene passed from her parents that was recessive.

It's possible yes, if everything else healthwise checks out with your dog. I have a 9 month old pure pit bull, and she is very small for what she should be. I don't mind it thought… Most people don't run away from her. Lol.

Possible? Yes sure it is. But Dwarf/midget dogs and even giant dogs are what are known as mutants not the Xmen or attack if the whatever creatures. But something in the animals DNA caused them to be different. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not attempt to breed this dog if it is a dwarf. The mutated gene will pass and can cause severe health issues. No one who is not triained in animal husbandry should ever attempt such a thing.
