which dog breed fits me best? PLZ HELP!!!?

ok people. im finally moving into a house(ive been living in an apartment and they didnt allow pets) and now i want to get a dog. i want a dog that could lay on my lap while i pet it, yet it has to be really active considering my lil bros want a really active play dog. considering our backyard is not going to be big, i need a small/med. dog.
i would like to to be low maintenance

i was thinking about a pug or french bull dog but i do not have the money to be buying it medicine(since they tend to have many breathing problems)

ive been researching and researching and dogs that ive found interesting are

beagles, miniature pinscher, chiuaua
(ive heard little dogs are more aggressive, and my mom is not a fan of dogs so i have to make sure the dog is sweet and loving in order for her to get us a dog)

can someone recommend a breed plz!
any breed plz!

You want a dog that can lay in your lap. Be active, low maintenance, and small to medium size. Forget the pug, They have breathing problems especially in warm weather. A French Bull is great but they are really expensive.

Beagles are superior dogs and match all your criteria.
Min Pins can be snappy if not socialized. Other than that they are super.
Chihauhuas can range from all sizes, colors and temperments. They are normally a "one person dog".

I would suggest a Dachshund. They are energetic, love to play, search the back yard for critters, lap dogs, small and low maintenance. and love to go on walks.
Dachshunds are also Alpha dogs so they must be socialzied from the beginning and have good Pack Leadership.

These dogs are funny and fun. I know, I have 3. One of my favorite breeds beside Pit bull.

I would suggest going to Petfinder, com They have thousands of dogs that would be good for you that need loving homes.

Pug, Frenchies , and other dogs breed with the pushed in noses are not good if you want to play for hours, they have breathing problems and can overheat quickly.

Miniature schnauzers are great pets. They love going for walks and just hanging out. They are tough enough to put up with kids and love to play.

My scottish terrier sits on my lap… and i pet her! And outside she is pretty active. The only thing wrong is that they need thier hair trimed every 6 months. It's a rumor that they are grumpy.

    I'll help you out.
1st. little dogs are not agressive, people just think it's cute when they bark and growl, so they let them, that's when they become agressive.
2nd. you want a small/med active dog right?
    non-shedding: Yorkshire Terrier
    Cairn Terriers
    scottish terriers.
    border terrier
    Shedding: MANY
    papillon
    beagle
    spaniels such as britanny spaniel
    english springer spaniel
    border collie

    and much much more.
the only way and energetic dog will sit and lay on your lap is if you exercise it, and drain it's energy.
    good luck :)

Of those three, I would say beagle or something similar. Possible one of the smaller terrier breeds (Scottie, Westie) but I don't know too much about them.

You could also go to your local shelter and meet the dogs there; they already have their 'adult' personalities ^^

Little dogs can have small dog syndrome. I wouldn't describe it as aggression so much as a dominance issue.

I would still recommend a beagle, though ^^ they're a little more common in shelters than the other two breeds mentioned, so you can get your ideal dog and save a life.

A beagle sounds like a good choice. Cocker spaniels are active, but love to lay in your lap too. Just make sure you go to a reputable breeder. The breed can have health and temperament issues if bought from the wrong person. But, they are a loyal, loving and fun breed and only weigh around 20 – 25 lbs.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Active, hyper, yet beautiful and calm. Small enough for you lap yet big enough for fetch!
This is a beautiful picture of one.

A beagle is nice and friendly, though they can be very hard to train and they're little escape artists too so if you get one BE SURE that it can't get out. As someone else suggested, try the local shelter. You can meet the dogs and talk to the people there and find out more about the dog's personalities and activity levels : )

mini schnauzers are really good pets. They sit on your lap, they also love to sleep in the bed with family too. they are really good tempered around kids too. they are really good in apartments because they don't shed very much, just about an ounce a year. If you get one, get it as a pup so u can introduce them to people or they will grow up and be very protective over you. (if you want to enter them in contests they are very good with obedience and are quick learners, also there is a rule in a Competition, no pure white minis, only salt and peppered, gray and black, but pure white minis are very rare!!( hope this helped!!

Jack Russell Terriers would be perfect.
Insanely active. Always running around, but can be sweet as can be.
Just like any dog, it would need some training.

Beagles are great dogs. They tend to have problems with digging, and can be loud..but any dog can have this issue. Just throw down some chicken wire when they dig, and don't allow the barking at all..unless you like it.

Any sort of Spaniel. They're sweet dogs but you'll have to be careful when feeding them. Don't want an obese dog.

Chihuahuas tend to have "little man syndrome." Meaning, they think they're a big dog and can be mean sometimes. But they are still loving dogs to the intermediate family.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis*, Pomeranians, Poodles**, Scottish Terriers, Shih Tzu. Basset Hounds.

    * Corgis are very smart, loving dogs.
** Poodles are one of the easiest dogs to train. Extremely intelligent!

    Good luck!

I think a Cavalier King Charles is a great breed for you. They are medium sized dogs. They may look small but they are really active, but a wallk a day is fine for them. They can adapt easily too. The yare sweet friendly dogs!
